POSITION: SCHOOL GATE GUARD
Job Classification: Non-Exempt
Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to verify that guests entering our school campuses are greeted and properly identified before being admitted onto school grounds. The employee will also enforce all school rules and regulations as established by the Iredell-Statesville Schools Board of Education.
Essential Duties:
• Provide a friendly greeting to people arriving on school campus and direct individuals, guests or vendors to the proper place after properly logging their information.
• Provide a friendly greeting to people leaving the school campus and logging them out.
• Communicate, in a positive manner, information about the school campus.
• Respond to the school campus radio in a polite, courteous tone.
• Notify the main office immediately of any incidences or extreme/unusual circumstances that could potentially harm someone or create a disturbance on the school campus.
• Direct traffic in a safe and efficient manner.
• May perform other related duties as assigned by ISS school administrators.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/ or Abilities Required):
• High School diploma or above.
• Tuberculosis (TB) screening required.
• Ability to enforce school regulations with respectful firmness, tact, and impartiality, establishes good working relationships with students, parents, school personnel and the general public.
• Ability to successfully complete and maintain simple records and produce reports.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, read, write, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the position.
• Exercises good judgment, mental alertness, good powers of observation, tact, and courtesy.
• Physical condition commensurate with the duties of the position.
Minimum Training and Experience:
A school gate guard needs to be a good communicator who can explain school campus information. This individual must be able to read and speak English. They must have good listening skills to understand and exceed guests' expectations.
Special Requirements:
In accordance with Iredell-Statesville Schools' background and screening requirements, candidates for appointment in school districts must obtain clearance prior to employment-based upon a fingerprint and criminal background check.
Work Environment:
Must work in temperature extremes and in some varying atmospheric conditions. ESS Education is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
